Welcome to Tumbleweed Interior Architecture & Design!
If you are an open-minded healthcare or wellness provider, a progressive senior living community or a home owner that wants to experience your home in a way that supports you,
You’re in the right place.
Tumbleweed is different than other design firms. I create beautiful interiors but I my work starts far before decoration begins. I work with my clients from conception to create environments with a WHOLEistic approach to health and wellness.
I bet I know a few things about you.
You’re a compassionate and caring person who isn’t afraid to take action. You spend a lot of time worrying about all of the things you have to do, taking care of others, and then maybe taking care of yourself.
You know what you want, yet sometimes you don’t. You need a supportive environment that allows you to heal others and heal yourself. You’re overwhelmed by space planning, the endless options for finishes and furnishing and don’t even get started on paint colors, you need soothing, you need vibrant, you need good energy flow,
But how do you make it happen?
Hey there, I’m Rhea, founder, and principal interior designer.
I love art, but I’m also a bit of a science nerd. I’m a big picture thinker, and I’m detail obsessed. I get really excited about new and innovative, but I’m respectful of time-honored and well loved. I’m a Libra and I love attempting to balance the opposed. Listening, beyond what is expressed, is instinctive to me and I am a natural born problem solver.
From a very young age, I knew I wanted to be an artist, a writer, and a teacher.
As I grew into a young adult I struggled to wholly embrace the artistic side of myself. I explored and pursued lots of career paths that were more aligned with my love of science. I enrolled in dentistry, psychology, speech-language pathology (which I do have a bachelor’s degree in) but I finally found my passion in interior design. Specifically, sustainable design for healing and wellness.
I went back to school and earned a BFA in Interior Architecture & Design.
My journey through design school showed me that design is so much more than decorating. I thought I would be a shop owner but I discovered that I could do far more than that. I was in heaven learning about things like the psychological response to color, natural building materials, healthy indoor air quality, and how innovative design practices such as biophilic design are not only healing but regenerating for the mind, body, and spirit.
I FINALLY MARRIED ART & SCIENCE!
Looking back, it is evident that my compassionate soul led me right where I need to be. I get to use my early adult interests in science, in a career that allows me to create with art, explore science, and design with empathy.
Some of the most gratifying educational and professional certifications I have earned are:
- BFA-IAD – Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture and Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.

Awards and Recognitions I am honored to have received:
